Itinerary

Day 1 - Arrival in Moshi

Touch down at Kilimanjaro International Airport, where you will be warmly welcomed and transferred to Springlands Hotel in Moshi for an overnight stay with bed and breakfast

Day 2 - Moshi to Marangu Gate to Mandara Hut

Your adventure begins with a 45-minute drive to Marangu Gate (1,830 m). After registration, trek through lush rainforest to Mandara Hut (2,700 m). En route, pause for lunch and consider a short detour to Maundi Crater for panoramic views of Kenya and northern Tanzania.
Hiking Distance & Time: 11 km, 4–5 hours

Day 3 - Mandara Hut to Horombo Hut

Continue your ascent through heathland to Horombo Hut (3,720 m), enjoying vistas of Mawenzi Peak and the summit of Kibo. A mid-way lunch break offers time to recharge. Bathrooms with running water are available at the hut.
Hiking Distance & Time: 10 km, 5–6 hours

Day 4 - Horombo Hut to Kibo Hut

The trek to Kibo Hut (4,700 m) traverses alpine heath and the barren saddle between Mawenzi and Kibo. This lunar-like landscape is breathtaking but challenging, so watch for signs of altitude sickness. There is no running water at Kibo Hut.
Hiking Distance & Time: 10 km, 6–7 hours

Day 5 - Kibo Hut to Uhuru Peak to Horombo Hut

The most strenuous day begins at midnight. Ascend to Gilman’s Point (5,685 m) and onward to Uhuru Peak (5,895 m) to witness a stunning sunrise. After celebrating your achievement, descend to Kibo Hut for your belongings and continue to Horombo Hut for overnight rest.
Hiking Distance & Time: 16 km, 15+ hours

Day 6 - Horombo Hut to Marangu Gate to Moshi

Descend to Mandara Hut for lunch before completing your trek at Marangu Gate (1,830 m), where transport awaits to return you to Moshi. Celebrate your success with summit certificates—gold for reaching Uhuru Peak and green for Stella Point.
Hiking Distance & Time: 18 km, 6–7 hours

Day 7 - Departure from Moshi

After breakfast, transfer to Kilimanjaro International Airport for your journey home, carrying memories of an unforgettable adventure.

  • Solo climbers are accompanied by a private mountain crew.
